Information For Girls Under 18
Florida law says that girls under the age of 18
must notify one parent before having an abortion. The law does recognize that
there may be good reason why some girls cannot notify a parent. A provision was
written into the law that allows girls who cannot inform a parent to get a court
waiver from this requirement. The
ACLU of
Florida created the PATH Project to help.
The PATH
Project helps teens under the age of 18 navigate the courts so that they can
make decisions about their own reproductive health care. The PATH Project
can provide lawyers to help girls through the court process. There is no
charge for the lawyer. The court procedure is free and confidential.
